Five steps. The flag on this register is step three, not step one.
Call 101, or 999 if it is happening now. Get the crime reference number. Nothing else works without it: insurers, marinas and this register all ask for it.
Tell your insurer the same day. Give them the crime reference. Ask them whether they will place a flag on this register, and if they are not yet a provider, tell them the address of the provider portal.
Sign in, open the boat, and press Report stolen. Type the crime reference and where and when it was taken. From that minute every free check and every paid report on that hull number shows the flag, with the date. When the boat is found, clear the flag yourself. The history stays.
Post it on The Boat Index lost and stolen board as well. It is free and it is where canal boat buyers look.
Send the photos and the hull number to marinas and brokers along the coast or the canal. Stolen boats are repainted and renamed within days. The hull number on the plate is the thing that does not change, and it is the thing every check here looks for.
